EAT FOOD POLICY: Summer Preview with Deirdre O’Mahony.

2023

Taking place on Sunday 11 June, from 11am–3pm, Kunstverein Aughrim is pleased to present a talk (Deirdre O’Mahony in conversation with Kate Strain), a walk (a guided foraging trail with local forager Geraldine Kavanagh), a picnic (by artist and cook Brenda Kearney following a week-long studio/kitchen residency in Aughrim), and a live rehearsal of The Song of the Farmer and the Dung Beetle (featuring the voice and sounds of Siobhán Kavanagh and Michelle Doyle). These activities have been devised to share insight into O’Mahony’s working process as an artist, by offering a glimpse into The Quickening, a major new body of work currently in development.

Tickets are available via eventbrite. Tickets cost €10/20 and include light lunch and return transport to Aughrim from Dublin City Centre. If you wish to come but can’t purchase a ticket please get in touch.

Anyone travelling by car can avail of on street parking around the town centre. Anyone availing of public transport from Arklow or Carlow can use the local link Sunday service, timetable here.

Access

Kunstverein Aughrim is unfortunately not currently wheelchair accessible, due to a series of stone and concrete steps at the threshold. However other venues (the National Disabled Angling Facility and the Pavilion) are access friendly. The foraging walk lasts approximately 45 minutes and involves slow paced uphill walking.

Summer Preview with Deirdre O’Mahony is produced by Kunstverein Aughrim. The event features a live rehearsal of The Song of the Farmer and the Dung Beetle performed by Siobhán Kavanagh and Michelle Doyle, and commissioned by the School of Looking as part of Deirdre O’Mahony’s contribution to the Eco Showboat tour, which will take place in St Mullin’s on 29th July 2023.
